Sophie Frieda,
2008 Bloom Poster Artist
Bainbridge Island artist Sophie Frieda's breathtaking oil-on-canvas piece "Floral Dance" was selected as this year's poster artwork. Congratulations, Sophie!
Sophie has lived on Bainbridge Island for five years, and has become increasingly intrigued with the local flora and fauna as subjects for her art.

From Sophie Frieda's Artist’s Statement from her website:
"My paintings are inspired by an initial
fascination with landscape. The flowing
rhythms working against solid structures
such as trees, creating a tension on the
picture surface.
Transitions have always fascinated me.
When I arrived in the U.S. from England,
thirteen years ago, my work was trans-
formed by the challenging and stimulating
energy of the U.S. This expanded my vision
and allowed me to venture into the up close power of nature."
